    Some History

At Oak Lawn, we’ve been playing some form of FIBA 3x3 in the offseason for many years as a unique developmental tool for our players.  In 2017, a group of Oak Lawn Basketball players including Adem Osmani (c/o ‘18), Sami Osmani (c/o ‘20), and Trey Ward (c/o ‘20) qualified for the USA Basketball 3x3 U18 championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they eventually won a silver medal, falling in the championship game. 3x3 basketball was played for the first time in the 2021 Summer Olympics! The United States took home the gold for the women, while Latvia won gold for the men.

    Why Play 3x3 this way?

    • More touches for players
    • More space to operate for players to practice and use skills and creativity
    • More opportunities for players to make decisions with the ball
    • Nowhere to hide on defense
    • Non stop action, you must play quickly
    • Awesome for player development
